So many of the phenomenal gospel artists whose music we adore got their starts as praise and worship leaders or ministers of music at their churches. Think Byron Cage, Israel Houghton, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, William Murphy…. You get the picture. Being skilled at increasing participation in musical expression, they often have supporters who are anxious to engage at every opportunity. So, when they release projects, their fanbases respond.

Enter Kevin Bennett.

Often witnessed leading the congregation at the dREAM Center in Atlanta, Georgia after moving to the area, Bennett maintains his connection with the friends and family he gained while serving at the Impact Nation Fellowship Church in Tuscaloosa.  He also led the critically acclaimed “Give Thanks” on Assignment No. 1 by L. Spenser Smith and Testament.

Kevin actually came to Tuscaloosa from Columbus, Mississippi to attend Stillman College, where he sang in the renowned Stillman College choir.  As long ago as that, he has been encouraged to create his own project as both is range and vocal control causes even the most adept musician to exclaim in awe.

So, it comes almost as a surprise—albeit a welcome one –that Bennett has finally released a single.

The song begins:

Spoken, “Look, I don’t know who this is for, but I just want to take a moment to encourage you.”

Listen. Yesterday I made mistakes,

taking advantage of your grace.

See, I’ve been going through some things.

By Your Blood, the stain’s erased.

So in the morning when I wake,

I can’t wait to see you face to face.

So before I start my day,

I lift my hands to tell you, “Thanks!”

Fear and shame had me bound, (You do all things well)

But mercy turned it around. (You do all things well)

So, when life’s trials come your way,

They only come to test your faith,

And on His Word, you can stand.

It’s all a part of His plan.

Just when I thought hope was lost (You do all things well)

Lord, You looked beyond my faults (You do all things well)….

Go ahead and give it a listen!

And this was well done! We can't wait to hear more.
