James Spann Addresses Rumors of Snow in Alabama Later This Week
Yesterday ushered in a temperature change for our area. This past weekend Alabamians enjoyed 80-degree weather and now we are headed into a very opposite weekend temperature-wise.
On Friday ahead of the cold front, you can expect temperatures in the 70s and rain in the afternoon. We are closely monitoring this system for any severe weather potential and will update you if anything changes.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist mentioned on Facebook that “there is a chance of snow for over parts of North Alabama Friday night into early Saturday morning. No, this will not be another Blizzard of 93.”
Will There Be Any Accumulation?
Spann noted that “as cold air rushes in, there is a chance rain could change to snow over about the northern third of Alabama late Friday night and early Saturday. It is a classic case of cold air chasing departing moisture, and traditionally this kind of setup does not bring meaningful accumulation.” Also, at this time now there are no travel impacts are expected.
Very Cold Weekend
Please prepare for much colder temperatures this weekend. Our coverage area could experience highs in the 40s on Saturday. Then Sunday morning we could drop into the 20s. You also have to factor in the wind chill as well.
