A young Tuscaloosa woman was seriously injured but survived after she was struck by a vehicle on McFarland Boulevard Monday night.

Stephanie Taylor, a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said officers were called to McFarland Boulevard near Midtown Village around 8:40 p.m. Monday on reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Taylor said a 23-year-old Tuscaloosa woman was seriously hurt, but at this time police do not consider her wounds life-threatening.

The driver stopped and remained on scene, and traffic was rerouted while the westbound lanes of McFarland Boulevard remained closed for approximately two hours late last night.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit, which investigates all serious crashes, is investigating the crash.

Taylor said the pedestrian remained at DCH for treatment Tuesday morning.
