Hogg: Tropical Smoothie Cafe + Alabama’s First “Cookie Plug” Coming to Northport

Two very different quick-service concepts, including one that's brand new to Alabama, will soon share a space in Northport, city council president Jeff Hogg announced on social media Thursday.

In a post to Facebook, Hogg said a Tropical Smoothie Cafe and the fast-growing Cookie Plug brand will both move into the former Chongwah Chinese restaurant at 1425 McFarland Boulevard.

While Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a household name with more than 1,150 locations across the globe including in Tuscaloosa's Midtown Village, citizens in Northport have been vocal about their desire for a smoothie shop north of the Black Warrior River.

The surprise of the day is Cookie Plug, which Hogg called one of the hottest-growing cookie companies in the United States.

The hip-hop-themed cookie joint will be the first of its kind in Alabama.

"In less than three years, 30 locations are slangin' dope cookies that are baked fresh daily, with an experience that is unmatched," the brand said on their website. "We are not your Crumbl Cookie or your typical milk and cookies company. Our unique stacks are part cookie, part cake, and part brownie."

Hogg said the two-for-one concept is aiming to open in April and asked for feedback about drawing the new brand to Northport on his Facebook page.
