
Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Parts of West Alabama
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of West Alabama this evening. The National Weather Service says in their overview of the weather system:
"A disturbance will trigger showers and storm development across the northern parts of Central Alabama later this afternoon into the evening hours."
The NWS also said a few of the storms may be severe, with damaging winds and large hail.
For parts of our coverage area in West Alabama, the threat will move east across the state this evening.
Fayette County, Lamar County, and Walker County will all be at risk from 4 pm-8 pm.
Lamar County and parts of Fayette County and Walker County will be at a level two risk, with the rest of our area being a level one risk later in the evening.
Pickens County, Tuscaloosa County, Greene County, Hale County, Perry County, and Bibb County will be at a level one risk from 6 pm-9 pm this evening.
Additionally, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for the following counties in our area until 10:00 pm on May 8:
Lamar County
Fayette County
Walker County
Just added in Pickens and Tuscaloosa County.
