Northport Hopes to Draw New Dunkin to McFarland Boulevard

The Northport City Council is working to draw a new Dunkin' coffee shop to their side of McFarland Boulevard, council president Jeff Hogg announced Friday.

Hogg said on Facebook that he and president pro tempore Christie Bobo will make a recommendation during the February 19th council meeting to offer the national brand tax incentives to set up shop in the city.

Hogg said the proposed location is at 2801 McFarland Boulevard in Buford Plaza, not far from where a new pizzeria will soon replace the closed Mr. Bills.

"Our retail committee has worked hard to try and attract not only quality businesses but recognizable brand names as well," Hogg wrote. "We feel that this project could help set the tone for the future of an area that was in need of improvement."

Hogg said representatives for the brand were excited by growth in Northport, including the development of the city's own water park and sports complex.
