A Northport man and a woman from Demopolis were both killed in a Thursday morning collision in Greene County, Alabama State Troopers have confirmed.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Troopers in West Alabama, said 44-year-old Joseph D. Lunceford of Northport was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Express G3500 cargo van and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Suburban being driven by 55-year-old Dana P. Freeman of Demopolis.

The two drivers collided on Highway 43 in Greene County about four miles south of Forkland, King said. The wreck happened around 6:50 a.m. Thursday.

Both Lunceford and Freeman were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.

No further details were available Friday morning as ALEA State Troopers with the Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
