Tuscaloosa's newest restaurant opened Friday, offering all-you-can-eat sushi, hibachi, and more Asian and American options from a sprawling buffet.

Nami Supreme Buffet can be found at 4374 Courtney Drive, off Skyland Boulevard in front of the CMX movie theater, where the KPOT Korean barbecue and hot pot closed in May.

The new restaurant is owned and operated by the same group as KPOT, and they have rearranged the space to add a new hibachi grill and expand the existing buffet.

Faye Lu, the manager at Nami, invited the Thread there Friday to try the new restaurant and see the changes made since KPOT closed.

The two main draws are the new all-you-can-eat sushi buffet and a build-your-own-plate hibachi grill.

At both stations, professional chefs await. The sushi side is regularly stocked with freshly assembled and cut rolls showcasing different recipes, ingredients, sauces and more.

From classics like the California roll to chef's specials, patrons can try whatever they like and come back for more.

At the hibachi station, guests select raw ingredients, load a plate, and hand it over to a chef to grill. Minutes later, the meal is served back hot on a clean plate.

The buffet is also back and bigger than before, featuring six fully stocked tables with a variety of Chinese and American entrees and sides, fresh fruit, desserts, and more.
