Man Fatally Shot in Northport Early Thursday Morning

Northport Police Officers were on the scene of a homicide early Thursday morning, where a killing has reportedly left one man dead.

Captain Jack Kennedy. the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said NPD and the VCU are in the 3700 block of 17th Street in Northport on a shooting.

One male is dead, Kennedy said, and no other information was immediately available at 6:30 Thursday morning.

By the count of Thread staff, it is the 23rd homicide in Tuscaloosa County so far in 2024 - edging closer to the all-time annual high of 26 homicides only seen in 2006 and 1975.
