A Kennedy man was sentenced Monday after being charged with two felony child pornography charges in Fayette County.

According to a release, District Attorney Andy Hamlin with the 24th Judicial Circuit of Alabama announced the sentencing for 21-year-old Mason Logan Martinez, who received 20 years in prison for dissemination of child pornography and 10 years for possession of child pornography, which he will serve concurrently.

The release said Martinez entered into an open-ended guilty plea in Fayette County on October 31.

Martinez was arrested in May 2021after an investigation revealed he created and shared obscene videos depicting underage females.

Hamlin said Martinez's sentence is "completely appropriate for someone who targeted and repeatedly victimized children."

"The victims showed a tremendous amount of courage detailing these acts. I hope this resolution encourages other victims to come forward and demonstrates that there is hope in justice," Hamlin said.
