Coker Woman Charged With Firing Shotgun at Daughter’s Boyfriend
A Coker woman was arrested after she reportedly fired a shotgun at her daughter's boyfriend inside her home early Sunday morning.
According to court documents filed on Wednesday, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a residence on Nashville Drive in Coker on reports of a shooting at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
Investigators say 65-year-old Mary Crossland allegedly fired a shotgun inside the house in anger at her adult daughter's boyfriend, who was sleeping in a bed there.

Crossland had reportedly told him to leave a few hours before the shot was fired, and the man answered that he would depart in the morning. Investigators described the man as an off-and-on resident of the home for many years in their deposition.
Hours after their conversation, Crossland allegedly stated she was going to shoot him and fired a shotgun at him as he was in bed. The would-be victim was not injured, according to the police report.
Crossland was arrested Sunday and charged with attempted first-degree assault, a Class C felony, and booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
