Three Fights at Central High Draw Parents & Police to Campus Tuesday Morning
Three fights broke out at Central High School Tuesday morning, and the trouble spilled into the parking lot when parents showed up, according to Tuscaloosa City Schools and police.
Footage of melees inside and yelling outside the building was spreading on social media Tuesday morning, and TCS said the altercations grew out of a conflict that started off campus and was carried onto school grounds.
The first fight happened before the school day started. School administrators and SROs dealt with all three, and the Tuscaloosa Police Department sent some extra officers to help.

A TCS spokesperson said school resource officers handled the initial fight quickly, but parents of some students began arriving at the school afterward, leading to a verbal confrontation in the parking lot.
TPD said they sent additional patrol officers, who got there around 8:30 a.m. and de-escalated the situation. The spokesperson said no one was arrested, and no arrests are expected.
The students involved in the fights were sent home. The school system said they will face discipline under the TCS Student Code of Conduct.
TCS said all students and staff are safe and that Central stayed on its normal instructional schedule.
Daria's Response
"What happened this morning is not representative of the normal school day at Central High School," TCS Superintendent Mike Daria said. "Conflicts from outside of school cannot be brought onto our campuses, and fighting of any kind will not be tolerated. Our schools must remain safe places for our students to learn and our staff to work. The safety and well-being of everyone on our campuses is a priority, and appropriate action will be taken regarding those involved."
