A beloved Birmingham purveyor of peanuts is coming soon to Tuscaloosa, they announced Friday on Facebook.

The Alabama Peanut Co. is housed on downtown Birmingham's Morris Avenue and, as the name implies, it's one "one of America’s last surviving peanut merchants," according to their website.

They sell both roasted and boiled peanuts and peanut brittle alongside specialty sodas and beers there and now plan to open a second location here in the Druid City.

The story broke first on AL.com, who said the Peanut Co. will move into the space that for two decades was housed by the Filling Station bar, which closed permanently earlier this year.

Owners said they plan to open at 411 23rd Avenue in Temerson Square sometime in late summer 2024, which already promises to be an exciting time for restaurant and retail development news in Tuscaloosa.
