The new school year is right around the corner and organizations everywhere are hosting events to make sure kids have what they need. At the McDonald Hughes Center, one event made sure kids looked great ahead of the first day of school.

Tuesday August 6th, Trey The Barber hosted an event offering free haircuts and hairstyles for kids in West Alabama. This is his 3rd consecutive year hosting the event.

"Sometimes we just don't do enough for the kids," said Matoria Byrd also known as The Haircut Cutie of Crownd Perfections. Byrd was one of the barbers cutting hair at the event.

"The kids in the area, they need a lot of love."

The haircuts and hairstyles began at 8a and ended at 5p. In total, Trey and the team of barbers and hairstylists were able to deliver 170 haircuts and hairstyles to kids at the McDonald Hughes Center.
