Alabama Football Lands Commitment From South Carolina Running Back
The Alabama Crimson Tide has added its second running back commitment to the 2027 recruiting class, with three-star running back Tai Phillips committing to the Crimson Tide, he announced. Phillips chose the Crimson Tide over Florida State and Stanford.

Phillips, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back originally from North Carolina, transferred to Columbia, South Carolina, and will attend Irmo High School for his senior season. He's rated as a three-star prospect according to the Rivals Industry rankings as the No. 83 running back and the No. 18 player in the state in the 2027 recruiting class.
As a junior at Fayetteville High School in North Carolina, he carried the ball 116 times for 919 yards, averaging 7.9 yards per carry, scoring 12 touchdowns in seven games played last season. As a sophomore in 2024, he finished with 86 carries for 880 yards, averaging 10.2 yards per carry, scoring 11 touchdowns in 12 games. He also runs track and field, where he was a state qualifier in the 200-meter dash as a sophomore in 2024.
Phillips visited Alabama on June 12 for his official visit after receiving an offer from Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide's coaching staff on June 21 last summer. He also took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa on November 15.
