Former Starting Forward Enters Transfer Portal
The Alabama Crimson Tide continues to see its roster turnover after the Final Four run at the start of April. Alabama has had players of all different capacities from their Final Four run enter the portal. Key contributors such as Rylan Griffen and Nick Pringle entered the portal, and so did Kris Parker, who took a redshirt in 2023, and Max Scharnowski, who was a walk-on.
Alabama now has its sixth scholarship player to decide to enter the transfer portal. Mohamed Wague, who was a starter for Alabama early in the season, has entered the transfer portal according to On3 Sports.
Wague appeared in 33 games for Alabama, starting eight games this season. He averaged 3.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.5 assists for Alabama in the 2023-2024 season. Alabama originally recruited Wague to be a center for this year's team.
Wague's best game of the season came against former Alabama assistant coach Bryan Hodgson and the Arkansas State Redwolves. He scored 12 points in 24 minutes for the Tide.
The departure of Wague hurts Alabama with size, he stood at 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, especially with Nick Pringle also entering the portal. Alabama is in the hunt for Clifford Omoruyi from Rutgers and Jonas Aidoo from Tennessee, two centers in the transfer portal, and has contacted Ugonna Onyenso from Kentucky. They must feel good about their chances of getting a center if Wague is entering the portal.
