Kalen DeBoer Shares Health Update Following Second Scrimmage

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama completed its second and final scrimmage of fall camp on Thursday morning inside Bryant-Denny Stadium, with the Crimson Tide missing a few key pieces on offense. Noah Rogers is still out following his A-Day injury, and AK Dear will miss the start of the season after suffering an injury in last week's scrimmage.

On Thursday, DeBoer updated the status of injured freshman running back EJ Crowell and sophomore wide receiver Lotzeir Brooks after the scrimmage.

"EJ (Crowell) did not scrimmage. And I would expect him — we’re really hopeful that sometime next week, he’s coming back to step on the football field to practice. I would put Lotzeir (Brooks) in the same category — did not scrimmage today," DeBoer said.

Crowell, a former five-star signee with the Crimson Tide last December, missed last week's scrimmage as well after missing most of spring practice with a right leg injury. Brooks missed last week's scrimmage, but was spotted during the media viewing portion of Monday's practice.

JUCO transfer defensive back Nick Sherman suffered a lower-body injury during the scrimmage, according to DeBoer.

"Nick Sherman did suffer an injury today, and he’ll be evaluated for a lower-extremity injury. And so, that was it as far as any injuries that happened in the practice today."

Alabama will return to the practice field for fall camp practice No. 14 on Sunday morning. Alabama's first game of the 2026 season is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, at home against East Carolina. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
