The University of Alabama and Kalen DeBoer had to shift their February focus after offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb accepted the same job with the Seattle Seahawks and took offensive line coach Scott Huff with him.

Huff and Grubb both had already been on the recruiting trail for Alabama, but that didn't stop the Seahawks from calling. Alabama countered the move by promoting tight end coach Nick Sheridan and wide receiver coach JaMarcus Shephard to co-offensive coordinators, and Sheridan switched to coaching quarterbacks as well.

The moves left two holes in DeBoer's initial coaching staff: offensive line and tight ends. Alabama is moving closer to completing its initial coaching staff as they are expected to hire an offensive line coach.

The Crimson Tide are expected to hire Baylor offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic, per a report from Pete Thamel.

Kapivolic was the offensive line coach at Michigan State before accepting the job at Baylor. He was at Baylor for just a couple of months. He also has spent time at Alabama State. Missouri State, Southern Miss, North Carolina, and Colorado.

Alabama's coaching staff currently is expected to look like:
