Gospel’s Yolanda Adams Returns with New Album in 13 Years
Yolanda Adams, the legendary gospel singer and four-time GRAMMY winner, marks her highly anticipated return today with the release of her new solo album, "Sunny Days". This is her first studio album since 2011's, Becoming, and it features 15 tracks, including collaborations with Terry Hunter, Sir The Baptist, and Donald Lawrence. "Sunny Days" is now available on all major music platforms.
The album’s release coincides with Adams' co-headlining role on "The Reunion Tour", alongside gospel icons such as Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond, The Clark Sisters, and Kierra Sheard-Kelly. The 33-city tour is in full swing, with Adams set to perform in Cincinnati, OH tonight. Ticket and tour details can be found online. She will be in Alabama at the BJCC in Birmingham on October 5th.
The album's lead single, "Church Doors," showcases Adams' powerful and soul-stirring vocal talent, reminding listeners why she remains one of the most dynamic voices in both gospel and secular music. Reflecting on the single’s message, Adams told Billboard, "The world has been through so much. Sharing good news about what God has done is exactly what we need right now." Two remixes of "Church Doors," featuring Sir The Baptist, Donald Lawrence, and poet J. Ivy, were crafted by three-time GRAMMY-nominated DJ Terry Hunter. Adams also performed the single earlier this month on The Tamron Hall Show, impressing fans and reigniting their admiration on social media.
Speaking with Indiana's News 8 while on tour, Adams explained her devotion to gospel music, stating, "I’ve had many offers to pursue other genres, but gospel is unique—you can sing it from age 13 to 100. For me, if I’m using my gift for the right purpose, God will always make a way."
Since her debut in 1986, Yolanda Adams has solidified her place as one of the most respected voices in both gospel and mainstream music. Her unforgettable performances at events like the BET Awards, where she paid tribute to Anita Baker, and her 2019 rendition of "America the Beautiful" at the Super Bowl, have further cemented her legacy. Adams has performed at The White House multiple times and has received numerous accolades, including GRAMMYs, BET Awards, Soul Train Music Awards, and NAACP Image Awards, in addition to achieving platinum status as a gospel artist.
