‘Frozen’ Short Film “Frozen Fever” to Debut in Theaters With ‘Cinderella’
Guess what, parents? You're going to see Disney's live-action 'Cinderella' remake in theaters. Possibly more than once. Because that is when you, and more importantly the kids in your life, will be able to see the next 'Frozen' adventure—the short film "Frozen Fever"—for the first time.
While Idina Menzel seemed to confirm the existence of a 'Frozen 2' this week, she later clarified her comments and there doesn't seem to be an official sequel in the works so "Frozen Fever" is the closest your going to get to returning to Arendelle. Here's the official synopsis from Disney:
In “Frozen Fever,” it’s Anna’s birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s icy powers may put more than just the party at risk.
I expect at least one ice cream cake joke.
And, just when you finally got "Let It Go" out of your head, "Frozen Fever" will include an all-new original song by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who won an Oscar for their work on the original film.
The good news is that this is probably the tip of the iceberg (ahem) when it comes to 'Frozen' spinoffs and specials. The 'Toy Story' franchise was kept alive through various shorts and TV specials, including 'Toy Story That Time Forgot' which just aired on ABC this week. Until Disney decides whether or not they really want to move forward on a 'Frozen 2', you can expect we'll continue to see Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Sven and Olaf every so often.
'Cinderella' (and "Frozen Fever") opens in theaters on March 13, 2015.
