Free COVID-19 Testing this Saturday in West End Tuscaloosa
COVID-19 cases are increasing across the United States. Also, cases are on the rise in West Alabama. Let’s continue to try our very best to keep safe during the pandemic.
I know you are over it; I’m over it too. However, getting tested for COVID-19 is for you, your family and your community. Please continue to wear your mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing.
The First African Baptist Church is partnering with the American Medical Screening company to host a FREE COVID-19 testing event. They will offer drive-thru and walk-up services. It will be Saturday, January 16, 2021, from 9:30 am until 1:30 pm. You can find the First African Baptist Church at 2621 Stillman Boulevard in Tuscaloosa.
Earlier today, I had a great conversation with Pastor Michael A. Foster from the First African Baptist Church about the importance of this testing event. When I asked Pastor Foster why he felt that COVID-19 testing was crucial to the community, he mentioned that testing would help “secure the type safety that is needed within our families, loved ones, older generation and those that at risk more than us all.”
As we talked, I felt Pastor Foster’s concern for those with a greater risk for contracting COVID-19 due to preexisting conditions. We also touched on the concern about the spread of the virus from those that could be asymptomatic. He felt that Saturday’s testing is “an opportunity for us to be to assist in helping our community.” The test result knowledge would benefit the community “without the financial concern.”
Don’t forget - No insurance? No problem. All are welcome. No appointment is required. The things you will need is a photo ID and insurance card. Testing is FREE, but insurance information will be collected if insured.
