Don’t Blink or You’ll Miss What Happens to These Corvettes
You have to pay close attention to this security footage at the Corvette Museum, or else you'll miss the shocker that happens!
This footage was caught on Feb. 12, 2014 at the National Corvette Museum around 5:38 AM CST. For most of the 48 seconds of footage, it doesn't appear to much happening -- except for the sinkhole forming underneath the three Corvettes shown in the middle. At first, it's just a slight crack that forms, which isn't really all that dramatic, but still enough to suspend the cars above the ground a bit.
As the frames continue to play, you can see a lot of the dust shoot up out of the ground as well as some billowing in the background. At around the 38-second mark, the two Corvettes on the left seemingly disappear, swallowed up by the ground as a full sinkhole opens up and devours the vehicles. Just like that, the Corvettes are nowhere to be found and there's a huge, gaping hole in the middle of the museum in the Skydome.
It's a little jaw-dropping to behold and looks like a part of some supervillain's scheme to steal Corvettes. According to CNN, the sinkhole was 40 feet wide and 20 feet deep and claimed the following vehicles:
- 1962 Black Corvette
- 1984 PPG pace car
- 2009 ZR1 Blue Devil
- 1992 white1 Millionth Corvette
- 1993 ruby red 40th Anniversary Corvette
- 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
- the 2009 white 1.5 Millionth Corvette
- 1993 ZR-1 Spyder
