Charles Storey is a Black History Maker

"Celebrating Black History and achievements is an opportunity for individuals like me to express appreciation for those who came before me and laid a sacrificial foundation for me and others to build on and by continuing to pursue, it serves as a testimony of their sacrificial efforts . Also acknowledging the major hurdles they over came not only to succeed but to excel. I hope the path that I, Charles Storey traveled can serve as a stimulus to someone wondering is it possible. My last words I borrow from Napoleon Hill, “Anything that the mind can conceive and believe you can achieve." - Charles Storey

Charles Storey was born and raised in Eutaw, Alabama. Stillman College was the attraction that brought him to Tuscaloosa. He graduated with honors from the school of business. His early career path was in management for Sears Roebuck & Co. At the ripe age of thirty – two, Charles retired from Sears and started his entrepreneurial career as a real estate broker. Charles and his wife Toni founded Storey Real Estate and Construction, Inc. in 1989.

They used the platform of their full-service real estate company to pursue other entrepreneurial opportunities. In addition to serving the community by assisting them in buying, selling, and leasing real estate. In 1995, Charles became certified by the state of Alabama to teach the pre-license classes necessary to obtain real estate licenses. The Progressive School of Real Estate also provided the continuing education classes required for all licensees. Progressive School of Real Estate provided numerous opportunities to assist and encourage licensees in their careers. Charles also taught real estate classes at Shelton State Community College.

In 1993 Charles was called on by Doctors Gore and Cosby of his alma mater, Stillman College to assist in creating a training model funded by the Alabama Department of Transportation to provide entrepreneurial training for certified minority and women-owned enterprises. Charles served as an adjunct professor and director for the first five years of the project. The DBE training provided entrepreneurial training for hundreds of businesses over the state of Alabama.

In addition to pursuing business and training opportunities, Charles recognized the importance of paying "civic rent". In any pursuit of success, there is an unwritten charge to give back at least as much as you take. Charles started the payback journey as a volunteer basketball coach at the Barnes branch of the YMCA. The community contributions and involvement quickly escalated to the board of director services with, Salvation Army, Junior Achievement, ARC, Big Brother Big Sisters, West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Alabama, Tuscaloosa Prayer Network, YMCA, and Peoples Bank and Trust.

Charles received numerous awards from several of the organizations he served with, West Alabama Chamber of Commerce, University of Alabama, Junior Achievement and the most prized recognition was in 2010 honored by Stillman as an honoree of their  Corporate Recognition Gala recognizing the contributions Charles has made to the community through his business enterprises.

Charles has recently retired from the real estate business and spent most of his time in the ministry of Jesus Christ.
