Be Very Careful of Who You Listen To . . .

What are you hearing from the people in your life? Are these same people increasing your self-doubt or adding strength to your faith? Because people tell you something doesn't make it so. If you look back in history  during the time of Christopher Columbus, everyone thought that the earth was flat. The experts of that time looked at his travel plans and indicated that his idea was impossible. However, Columbus did not fall off the end of the earth as they had predicted. Thomas Edison tried to convince Henry Ford to abandon his fledgling ideas of a motorcar because he was convinced it would never work. Edison was a great inventor, it sounds like he was only positive about what he could do and rather pessimistic about what others could do. The very next time that you get in your automobile to travel, be grateful that Ford did not share Edison's rather negative outlook about automobiles. Don't allow someone's rather limited thinking limit you. Negativity is contagious; you have to pay attention if you don't want to catch it! Even if you are the only positive person in your setting, be the one with an optimistic attitude in each and every situation. What is known as "common knowledge" many times is commonly incorrect! "Our Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:6) Have those who are telling you "it cannot be done"  factored God into the situation? If not, pay absolutely no attention to them. Instead of listening to individuals who increase your doubts, listen to the ones who God has given wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
