Another Tropical Storm Before The Start Of Hurricane Season
As we deal with our own round of rain and severe thunderstorms threats for this week. The official start to Hurricane season starts June 1, 2020, and goes until November 30, 2020. The first storm formed on May 16, 2020, with Tropical Storm Arthur. Now, we have another situation with Tropical Storm Berta that just developed off the coast of South Carolina near Charleston and will bring heavy rainfall to that area and the Carolinas as it moves inland. Also, the South Carolina coastline can experience tropical storm winds. As Tropical Storm Berta moves further inland, it will also bring rain into Virginia as well.
I reported in early April the predictions from the Colorado State University in which they noted that they “anticipate that the 2020 Atlantic basin hurricane season will have above-normal activity.” The Weather Channel discussed that we could see “a total of 16 named storms, eight hurricanes, and four major hurricanes are expected this season.”
Hurricane Season hasn’t even started yet, and we have already used two names from the Atlantic Hurricane Names for 2020. These names include Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly, Edouard, Fay, Gonzalo, Hanna, Isaias, Josephine, Kyle, Laura, Marco, Omar, Paulette, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky, and Wilfred,” located in the Farmers' Almanac.
