Alabama Sets Record With Over 200,000 Absentee Votes So Far
Alabamians are taking voting very seriously. According to APnews, A record 200,000 Alabamians have already voted in the November election through absentee.
Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill has been letting the whole state know about the way to "early vote" in Alabama. It's through absentee ballots. Technically, the state of Alabama doesn't have early voting but John Merrill says this year Alabamians can vote by absentee ballot if they're worried about COVID-19 especially at the polls.
The record number of 200,000 is amazing! John Merrill said the previous record was 89,000. To me, this is proof that this election is really the most important election in history. I have to admit, I hate when people say that cause it's said every election year, but the proof is in the pudding.
I love the fact that so many Alabamians are voting and doing it so early. I've experienced the long lines first hand. Back in Florida, it has never taken me longer than 30 minutes to vote. When I came to Alabama and seen people in line for 3 plus hours I was shocked. I can't imagine being in line that long just to cast my vote, but if that's what needs to be done, sign me up!
We encouraging you to exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election. If you'd like to vote absentee, click here for the needed information. The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Thursday, October 29th. To check your polling information you can click here.
