Alabama Fall: Record-Breaking Highs to a Much Colder Weekend

Welcome to Fall in Alabama where one day it’s bright, sunny, and very warm. Then the weather turns colder with a snap of a finger. One day you are sitting with a fan to keep cool and the next day wrapped up to keep warm.

Could we break more high-temperature records today? It sure is shaping up to be that way.

Record High Temperatures Set

According to the National Weather Service Birmingham, on Monday, November 7 there were some record-breaking temperatures across Alabama.

Tuscaloosa came in at 88 degrees which is 20 degrees above normal. This breaks the old record of 85 set in 2005.

Checking in at 17 degrees above normal was Birmingham which came in at 85 degrees. This breaks the old record of 82 set in 2005.

At 87 degrees Montgomery checked in at 14 degrees above normal. This breaks the old record of 86 set in 1986.

Tuesday – Friday Outlook

Tuesday: Expect partly to sunny skies along with a pretty warm day around the low to mid-80s.

Wednesday – Friday: Sunny skies with cooler temps in the mid-70s, with some areas in the high 60s.

Weekend Outlook:

The Yellowhammer State will experience some of the coldest temperatures yet.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “the coldest air so far this season will settle into the Deep South just in time for the weekend. Highs drop into the 50s Saturday and Sunday."

"Some places across the Tennessee Valley won't get out of the 40s Sunday afternoon. Expect sub-freezing temperatures early Sunday morning with a low in the 24-32 degree range. The air will be dry and the sky will be clear over the weekend," said Spann.
