Alabama DL Jarran Reed Arrested Sunday Morning
The University of Alabama football team is dealing with an arrest for the second consecutive weekend after defensive lineman Jarran Reed was charged with a DUI Sunday morning.
Tidesports.com reports that Reed collided with another car while trying to back out of a parking space at 1:50 AM. Police immediately stopped Reed and performed field sobriety test before taking him to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban released the following statement Sunday:
We are disappointed in Jarran's actions and this is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players. It is a privilege to represent the University of Alabama and there are responsibilities that go along with that privilege. We'll evaluate the situation and determine the appropriate discipline so better choices and decisions can be made in the future.
Reed transferred to Alabama from East Mississippi Community College in January and is expected to be a contributor on the defensive line. His status with the team remains uncertain and it could very well stay that way until Alabama returns to the practice field in August.
