The Alabama basketball team has had a roller coaster season filled with ups and downs. After finishing the year on a two-game losing streak four Crimson Tide players were honored by the SEC coaches and the Associated Press with awards.

Sophomore guard Kira Lewis was named to the All-SEC First team. Junior guard John Petty was named to the All-SEC Second team. Freshman guard Jaden Shackelford was named to the All-SEC Freshman team and junior wing player Herb Jones was chosen to the All-SEC Defensive team.

The Associated Press named Kira Lewis to its All-SEC First team, Lewis was the only Crimson Tide player honored by the Associated Press.

Lewis averages 18.5 points per game, 5.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game. He leads the Crimson Tide in points, assists and steals per game this season.

Petty averages 14.5 points per game, 6.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He is the Crimson Tide's leader in rebounds per game and he second the SEC in 3-point shots made and first in 3-point shooting percentage with 85 at 44% respectively.

Shackelford averages 15 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists this season. He is 10th in the SEC in points per game and third in the conference in 3-pointers made with 84.

Jones averages 7.9 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and .7 blocks this year. Jones has made himself a defensive force for the Crimson Tide this season despite wrist and shoulder injuries that have slowed him down. Jones is the unquestioned "Hard-Hat" leader for coach Nate Oats. Oats assigns "Hard-Hat" points for effort plays and defensive hustle.

The Crimson Tide will open up its SEC tournament against Tennessee on Thursday at noon. A victory against the Volunteers would set up a date with Kentucky, the SEC regular season champions.
