A 63-year-old Tuscaloosa woman was killed in a single-car accident Monday morning, a police spokeswoman has confirmed.

Lt. Teena Richardson, the public information officer of the Tuscaloosa Police Department, said Rose Lee Richardson was driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta southbound on 25th Avenue East when witnesses say she veered sharply left, ran off the road and struck a tree.

Richardson said officers rushed to the scene of the accident and found Richardson unresponsive. She was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The accident took place just before 11 o'clock Monday morning on 25th Avenue near Tamaha Trace.

Richardson said the police department is investigating to determine the cause of the accident.
