The battle over Alabama’s congressional districts continues this week as judges decide the legitimacy of a recently re-drawn map.

The ability to exercise our right to vote is under attack. The President of the United States has assailed main-in voting, even though it is safe, secure, and more popular than ever.

Looking back at an ongoing practice of institutional racism in the election systems, this new generation of election policies and rules appear to single out certain groups and disproportionately affect people of color, people who are poor, and the young.
