Police Make Murder Arrest in Alberta Shooting Once Thought Self-Defense
Investigators in Tuscaloosa have charged a man with murder in connection with a shooting in the Alberta area, which they first thought may have been a matter of self-defense.
As the Thread previously reported, Tuscaloosa Police and ultimately the Violent Crimes Unit responded to a shooting call in the 600 block of East 30th Avenue a couple of weeks ago, on November 22nd.
There, one person had been fatally shot and although officers had people of interest in custody very quickly, no arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

VCU Co-commander Marty Sellers said at the time that there was some evidence to suggest the fatal shooting may have been an act of self-defense. The victim, Lakendrick Rayshon Dunn, was armed at the time he was shot.
Dunn, 38, died after the shooting, and on Thursday, the VCU arrested a 20-year-old suspect and charged him with murder.
"Since the time of this initial incident, the case has been under active investigation. After examining the crime scene and ballistic evidence, autopsy results, conducting follow-up interviews, and after consultation with the District Attorney’s Office, probable cause was found to charge the shooter in this case with Murder," said VCU Commander Jack Kennedy. "Warrants were obtained and Jamarcus Raheem Jordan, age 20, was arrested yesterday for Murder and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling."
Kennedy said the homicide happened during an argument between the two men.
