Two Former Tide Offensive Weapons Show Out on Day Three of Combine
Former Crimson Tide pass catcher Germie Bernard and running back Jam Miller both performed well during their respective combine drills on Saturday as they attempt to bolster their draft stock ahead of the NFL Draft.

Official measurements for Bernard came in at 6'1, 206lbs with an arm length of 30 3/8" and a hand size of 9 7/8", while also running a 4.48 40-yard dash. Bernard was one of the most consistent weapons for the Tide last season, hauling in 64 receptions for 862 yards and seven touchdowns while also carrying the ball 18 times for 101 yards and two scores on the ground. According to draft analyst Lance Zierlein, these are the Strengths and weaknesses for the Tide's leading receiver in 2025
Strengths
- Good size, big hands and inside/outside versatility.
- Tempo alterations help to bypass and separate from coverage.
- Able to drop hips and quickly snap off curls/comebacks.
- Smooth strider with steady turnover working through zone.
- Gets through route transitions smoothly and at top speed.
- Above-average focus and footwork near the sideline.
- Weaponized as a utility option out of the backfield.
- Plus field vision and cut quickness when the ball is in his hands.
Weaknesses
- Needs better physicality and hand-fighting to defeat press.
- Accelerates quickly but isn't a vertical burner.
- Positioning would benefit from quicker adjustments.
- Needs to become more consistently competitive for catch space.
- Most drops come when working into the hashes.
- Average feel for coverage positioning on zone beaters.
Jam Miller was the first Tide player to test this afternoon at the combine, starting with the 40-yard dash and running a 4.43. Coming in at 5'10 and 209lbs, Miller also measured an arm length of 30 3/8" and a hand size of 8 3/4". Miller was the Tide's leading rusher in 2025 with 130 carries for 504 yards and just three touchdowns while catching 19 passes for 109 yards, but missed over a quarter of the season due to injury. Listed below are the Strengths and weaknesses according to Lance Zierlien
Strengths
- Good build with low center of gravity and strong lower half.
- Creates lateral space with jump-cut.
- Able to plant and cut sharply downhill on wide runs.
- Gets through the line with good bend and forward lean.
- Uses off hand to ward off closing tacklers in space.
- Had success covering kicks and punts in 2023.
Weaknesses
- Segmented running style slows downhill progress.
- Lacks desired vision and feel for lane development.
- Below-average burst to outflank defenses and turn the corner.
- Indecisive runner with a lack of spatial awareness.
- Breaks some tackles but doesn’t create many misses.
The Tide looks to continue the streak of first-round draft picks with day one of the NFL draft kicking off April 23rd, 2026.
