The Alabama Crimson Tide and Nick Saban moved quickly in replacing its departing inside linebackers coach Austin Armstrong. Armstrong left the Tide after just five weeks on the job to join Billy Napier at the University of Florida as the defensive coordinator.

According to Chris Low of ESPN, the Crimson Tide has hired Robert Bala to serve as the new inside linebackers coach. Bala has spent last year as an analyst at Liberty.

Bala has extensive coaching experience already, he's been in college or professional football since 2009 starting his career as linebackers coach at Snow College. His longest stop came at Southern Utah where he coached corners and coordinated defenses from 2018-21.

He was moved from an analyst role to coach the linebackers at the conclusion of the 2022 season and was considered for Liberty's defensive coordinator position as well, however the opportunity to join Saban and the Crimson Tide was just too much to pass up.

The Crimson Tide has all 10 of its coaching assistant positions filled and is scheduled to start spring practice on Monday, March 20.
