Hurricane Laura has the Potential to Cause a Catastrophic Strike
Air Force Hurricane Hunter Aircraft reports that Hurricane Laura has become an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Laura has the potential to cause a catastrophic strike to the upper Texas and southwest Louisiana coasts. We are closely monitoring this system as it has developed under the premise of rapid intensification. Also, we are thinking of those in the path of Hurricane Laura. We have Townsquare Media radio stations in Laura’s path in Lake Charles and Layfette, and we have been on communication with them as well.
The guidance from the National Weather Service offers key points for Hurricane Laura:
- Un-survivable storm surge with large and destructive wave will cause catastrophic
- The storm surge could penetrate up to 30 miles inland from the immediate coastline.
- Only a few hours remain to protect life and property, and all actions should be rushed to completion.
Also, Laura is still on its projected path from earlier and scheduled to make landfall Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning. Those on the east side of the system can also expect a tornado threat as well.
