An Alabama Beach Named One of Nation’s Top Rising Destinations
A popular travel website has been revealing their best of 2014 awards and one Alabama beach town was named one of the top 10 'Destinations on the Rise.'
Tripadvisor, which provides user reviews for every area of travel, has generated a list of the top destinations in the country based on the data it received over the past year. Out of all of the top locations around the United States, one Alabama beach town made the list.
Gulf Shores was picked as the No. 10 destination on the rise. Here's how the website described the beautiful coastal city.
This resort community is known for its bright white beaches and soothing warm water. Daytime activities include scenic cruises, dolphin-watching and hiking. A great place for families, Gulf Shores has The Track, a family recreation center with bumper boats, and also the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo.
Just this past weekend, the city hosted Hangout Fest, a three-day music festival that pulls in close to 40,000 attendees.
The entire Top 10 looked like this:
- Wildwood, New Jersey
- Nags Head, North Carolina
- Prescott, Arizona
- Telluride, Colorado
- Pompano Beach, Florida
- Traverse City, Michigan
- Avalon, California
- Waikoloa, Hawaii
- Knoxville, Tennessee
- Gulf Shores, Alabama
Just five years ago, many Gulf Coast resident were dealing with the BP oil disaster, which left oil and tar balls up and down the coastline. But Gulf Shores, like many of the communities in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana, has rebounded and kept tourism levels healthy.
