The game started slow, as both teams started the game going three-and-out. Both squads struggled throughout the entire first half, combining for 11 penalties for 75 yards in one quarter. ACA finally started to put together a promising drive, but quarterback Kai Young fumbled the ball with 5:04 left in the first.

Young was leading the Patriots on a long, 67-yard drive at the start of the second quarter, but the Bulldogs came up clutch in the red zone. Young was pressured and fumbled the ball for the second time in the game.

Luckily for the Patriots, the stout defense made life for Bulldog quarterback Braxton King a living nightmare. ACA finally put the first points on the board, with 7:09 left in the half. Young, who was starting his first game in five weeks after suffering an injury,  scrambled outside of the pocket, stopped, and fired a 46-yard bomb to wide receiver Davis Dare, to make the score 7-0.

The rest of the second quarter was a punt fest between the Patriots and the Bulldogs. Young looked to make a play on the final drive before the half, but his pass was ultimately intercepted by Bulldog defensive back, Jahvon Rogers.

The third quarter was more of the same between these two teams. Highlights of the third quarter included a ten-yard run by Bulldog running back Anthony Martin and a missed 27-yard field goal by American Christian Academy kicker, DJ Daly.

The fourth quarter is when the Patriots took over the game.  ACA opened the quarter with a 55-yard drive, led by running back Kolby Preskitt, who had two big 10-yard runs. The drive ended with a touchdown pass from Young to Dare, their second connection leading to points, which put the Patriots up by two possessions.

After stopping the Bulldogs yet again on fourth down, Young set up Daly to redeem himself. Daly made a 47-yard field goal that put the Patriots up 17-0, with 8:26 left in the game.

Just one play after the Daly field goal, Montevallo responded with a touchdown. King converted with Rogers for a 65-yard screen pass, cutting the deficit to 17-7.

The Montevallo momentum would shorty cease as Young and the ACA offense would respond with another touchdown to ice the game. The Patriots went on an eight-play, 61-yard drive, that was capped off by a four-yard quarterback run by Young.

The Patriots' defense held strong and the offense ran the clock out to secure the 24-7 victory.

"I feel great about the win today," said American Christian Academy head coach Cody Martin. "I feel great about Kai. He is a warrior and he is a leader of our team. We all knew he was going to bounce back so we are happy for him. I am proud we had this game to clean some stuff up before playoffs. Now our goal is to win the next five games in the playoffs".

With this win, American Christian Academy ends the regular season with an overall record of 8-2 and clinches a region title. The Patriots also continue the streak of regional wins. ACA has been perfect in region play for five seasons, the longest streak in the state of Alabama.

Montevallo, falls to 3-6 on the season

"We struggled at times this but I think our guys played one of their best games against a very good team," says Montevallo Head Coach Blake Boren. "Our boys played and competed hard and I am so proud of them for that. It's not the outcome we wanted but if you can play the game the right way, you can find solace in that".

Many expected a blowout on Veterans Memorial Parkway, but Montevallo kept it close for the majority of the contest. The Bulldogs will host Tarrant next week.

The Patriots are off next week, before facing off against its round one opponent in the playoffs at home.
