ALDOT to Demolish Westbound Bridge on Interstate 20/59 at Exit 73
The Alabama Department of Public Transportation has approved lane closures to allow the contractor to demolish the westbound bridge on Interstate 20/59 over McFarland Boulevard.
Eastbound traffic will end its current lane split and shift onto the new lanes beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, December 11) at 8 p.m. Westbound traffic will end its current lane split and shift onto the new bridge span at 8 p.m. this Thursday (December 12th).
The portion of McFarland Boulevard that runs directly underneath the interstate is set to close in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday, December 20, through 5 a.m. on Monday, December 23. Law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic, and two lanes will remain open during this period.
