Children under the age of 18 can get free meals at participating Tuscaloosa City Schools this month, regardless of their affiliation with any school in the system.

In a Thursday press release, TCS said it will offer free meals to children under 18 through June 27th as part of a federally funded program to make sure students have nutritious options to eat even when school is out.

There is no registration or identification required to eat - breakfast will be served each weekday from 7:45 until 8:30 a.m., and lunch will be available from 10:30 until noon.

TCS said meal sites include:

  • The Alberta School of Performing Arts
  • University Place
  • Central High
  • Bryant High
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School
  • Southview Elementary School
  • Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools will open as a meal site from June 2 through June 27.

There will be just one exception this month - all sites will be closed on June 19th to observe Juneteenth.
