Tuscaloosa County Police Charge West Virginia Man With Sexual Abuse of 4 Local Children
Investigators in Tuscaloosa County have charged a West Virginia man with the sexual abuse of at least four children in our area.
Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, announced the arrest of 67-year-old Jackie Lee Adkins in a Wednesday press release.

Kennedy said the VCU, which also maintains a group of sex crime investigators, received a recent tip about the sexual abuse of a child, and they launched a months-long investigation into Adkins.
"While conducting the investigation, 3 additional child victims were identified," Kennedy said.
The suspect now lives in Boone County, West Virginia, and Kennedy said when Tuscaloosa-area police gathered enough evidence to earn indictments against Adkins, he was arrested by officers there to be sent back to Alabama for prosecution.
He has since arrived back and been placed in Tuscaloosa County on charges including two counts of sexually abusing a child under 12, and one count each of rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.
Kennedy said Adkins' bond has been set at $500,000 cash and if anyone else believes they were a victim or know a victim of other criminal activity from Adkins, they can work with the VCU to report that.
"This investigation is ongoing," Kennedy said. "Due to the nature of the assaults, and known proclivities of these types of offenders, we encourage anyone who may have been a victim or knows of any possible abuse by this subject to please contact the Violent Crimes Unit at 205-464-8690."
