Self-Defense Possible in Overnight Homicide at the Links in Tuscaloosa
Police in Tuscaloosa say a fatal shooting at a local apartment complex late Saturday night or early Sunday morning could have been a matter of self-defense.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media late Sunday morning that officers responded to the Links at Tuscaloosa, an apartment complex and golf course off Highway 69 South, around midnight.

There, they found an adult male who had been shot to death - Sellers said the victim was a Tuscaloosa resident.
The VCU took over the investigation and ultimately found evidence that the shooting may have been in self-defense.
Sellers said an investigation is still ongoing, but no arrests have been made at this time. He said the VCU aims to release additional information sometime on Monday.
By the count of the Tuscaloosa Thread staff, this is the eighth homicide the VCU has investigated inside the county in 2025.
