Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said they also maintain a group of investigators who specialize in sex crimes affecting both children and adults.
Kennedy said those officers have been working a monthslong investigation into Kendarius Lewis over a report of sexual abuse of a child.
While working the case, the VCU allegedly discovered evidence of not one but three victims so far in the Northport and Cottondale area.

"At this time Kendarius Lewis, age 22, has been arrested and charged with charged with sexual offences which occurred between 2020 and 2025," Kennedy said. "The charges include 3 counts of Rape 1st Degree, 2 counts of Sodomy 1st Degree, and 2 counts of Sexual Abuse 1st Degree. These incidents occurred in both the Cottondale and Northport areas."
No other information about the charges will be released at this time to protect the privacy of the alleged victims, he said.
"Due to the nature of the assaults, and known proclivities of these types of offenders, we encourage anyone who may have been a victim or knows of any possible abuse by this subject to please contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690," Kennedy said.
