Northport Police Identify Driver Killed in Wednesday Accident as Tuscaloosa Woman
Police in Northport have identified the driver who was killed yesterday in a major four-vehicle accident as a 36-year-old woman from Tuscaloosa.
Keith Carpenter, the assistant chief of the Northport Police Department, identified the deceased driver as Vonchelle Renee Gamble.

Gamble was driving a USPS mail truck, one of four vehicles involved in a crash on Highway 43 near Highway 171 in Northport Wednesday afternoon. The US Postal Service confirmed to WBRC that she was one of their employees. Three other people suffered injuries that Carpenter called minor.
NPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit closed the highway for much of Wednesday afternoon to investigate how the deadly crash unfolded, but reopened it to traffic later that evening.
As of his last report to the media, Carpenter said NPD is not currently considering criminal charges in the case.
