A North Alabama woman was killed early Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Fayette County, State Troopers report.

Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, said 28-year-old Madalyn G. Powell was driving a 2009 Kia Rio on Alabama Highway 13 when the vehicle left the roadway.

King said the Rio struck a nearby culvert and Powell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim lived in Florence, Alabama in Lauderdale County.

King said the accident happened around 5:45 a.m. Friday on AL-13 about seven miles north of Berry, Alabama in Fayette County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
