Police are investigating a Labor Day shooting in Tuscaloosa's Alberta City community that left a man shot several times but likely to survive.

Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told the Thread that officers responded to a residential area in the 300 block of East 24th Avenue on a shooting call around 2 p.m. Monday.

Sellers said a man had been shot several times, but called his injuries non-life-threatening.

The VCU took over the case and, after an initial investigation, believes the victim was in a vehicle in the area Monday and got into an argument with a group of men there.

One of the men in the group allegedly fired a gun at the man's vehicle, striking him several times, but Sellers said the victim is expected to survive.

The VCU's investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time - stay connected to the Tuscaloosa Thread for updates as they become available.
