Driver Killed, Passenger Hurt in Wreck on Highway 216 in Tuscaloosa County
A Bessemer man was killed and a Tuscaloosa man injured Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 216 in Tuscaloosa County.
Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, said the accident happened around 2:20 p.m. Thursday.
King said Wayne A. Chastine, a Bessemer man, was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla when he left Highway 216 and struck a tree. His car overturned, and King said Chastine was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Chastine was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, and a 64-year-old Tuscaloosa man who was a passenger was injured and taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Corporal King said the crash occurred on Alabama 216 near mile marker 16, which is about five miles east of Brookwood, in Tuscaloosa County.
No other information was available Friday, and King said ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continues to investigate.
