Duo Charged With Attempted Murder for Shooting in West Tuscaloosa
A man and woman have been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in West Tuscaloosa over the weekend.
Captain Marty Sellers, the co-commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said officers were called to Westgate Apartments on 40th Avenue near Stillman College at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
A 31-year-old there told police he had been shot, and officers found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
They determined the man had been shot at Creekwood Village Apartments, not Westgate, but ran there after he was wounded to call for help.
Officers were able to locate the crime scene and send VCU investigators to process evidence and interview witnesses. Sellers also noted that the Tuscaloosa Police Cyber Unit lent a hand in this investigation.
Working together, police now allege that a man and woman were involved in the assault together, and they had an ongoing issue with the victim.
Investigators arrested 32-year-old Tanesha Thomas and 20-year-old David Waller III, both of whom are Tuscaloosa residents.
Sellers said the pair were both charged with attempted murder and are being held without bond until a judge's hearing.
Police say the victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital where he remains in stable but serious condition.
