Police have identified the man who was fatally shot at a home in west Tuscaloosa Thursday night and are asking for any witnesses to come forward and share what they know.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Friday afternoon that the investigation into a deadly shooting on Tuscaloosa's 33rd Avenue is ongoing.

Kennedy said Tuscaloosa Police officers responded to the house around 10 p.m. on reports of a shooting.

They found 34-year-old Christopher Shobe on the scene suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Shobe was transported to the hospital but later died from his injuries, Kennedy said.

No arrests have yet been made, and Kennedy said VCU is actively investigating the case with their pull-out-all-stops method of responding to a homicide.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident, or has any information is asked to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (205) 464-8690 or the Tuscaloosa Police Department at (205) 349-212," Kennedy said. "You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 205-752-STOP (7867) to leave confidential, anonymous tips, and be eligible for cash rewards."
