According to Reader's Digest, Loachapoka has a population of under 200 people and is pronounced LOW-cha-POH-Kah.

Located in Lee County, Loachapoka was established back in 1796 and according to the Encyclopedia of Alabama, the name translates to "Place where turtles are killed."

This town is located pretty close to Auburn University. Only six miles from campus.
