I feel like we have been all over the place weather-wise this week from tornadoes, a warm-up, and a cool-down, and it’s just the first week of January.

Our early week severe weather threat prompted a tornado watch for our coverage area and even tornado warnings for some of our counties. At this moment, the National Weather Service in Birmingham has reported that they have “identified 11 tornado tracks from the Jan 3-4 event” and will be investigating more areas today. There will be more to come as that information develops.

Friday Weather Outlook

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “sunny weather continues across Alabama today with highs in the 50s over North Alabama and 60s to the south."

Saturday “will remain dry; temperatures reach the low to mid-60s with a partly sunny sky. Some South Alabama communities will touch 70 degrees. Clouds increase late in the day, and an approaching disturbance will bring periods of rain to the state tomorrow night into Sunday,” said Spann.

“It won't rain all day Sunday, but if you have something planned outdoors be ready for occasional showers. The day will be cloudy with temperatures in the 50s over North Alabama, and the 60s for the southern counties. Rain will end from northwest to southwest late in the day Sunday,” said Spann.
